First Aid ( Compulsary ) IOM Karate / Grading
The Isle of Man Shukokai and Freestyle Karate club who are members of Cobra M/Arts have agreed to terms with Andy Morrell of the CMAA to make all there senior Instructors,QUALIFIED in FIRST AID.
This means that every Senior and secondary Instructor including referees from our club will be fully Qualified in First Aid.
A later date will be set to make sure that all the above will become fully qualified referees and judges in all form of M/Arts.
Andy Morrell a 6th Dan and also the England National team manager is to travel to the IOM to do a course on first aid and also grade Sara Pearson for her Black Belt 1st Dan ( Shodan ).
This grading will consist of a pannel with at least two 6th dan instructors present.
Sara will have to perform no less than 25 Katas which will include weapons / Japanese hardstyle forms / Korean and soft forms.
The above katas will have to consist of Bunkai to achieve the grade.
Katas and bunkai will only be one section of the black belt syllabus.

Isle Of Man Championships 2006 Mick Isaacs / Andy Morrell
A date is soon to be set for the IOM championships.
Mick and Sue Isaacs from SSK Leeds both UK and World Referee / Judges will be fully responsible for the Kata sections.
There experience and knowledge will ensure all decissions will be fair and none biased.
There decision will be final on the day.

Kata Rules
Kumite
Andrew Morrell (WKA Team Manager)

Andy Morrell will be fully responsible for Kumite.
Andy is the National England Team Manager a Black Belt 6th Dan and very experienced in all forms of M/Arts.
He will controll the whole fighting sections of Traditional Karate Kumite and Point fighting ( Semi Contact )
Andrew of Cobra M/Arts is a very approachable person but very fair and firm with his decisions.
He fully managed the England team in Toronto Canada in 2005.
WKA / IOM Open/ IOM Open
Hardstyle Forms (These must be Korean/ Japanese)
1. These must be using traditional moves.
2. A freestyle form is not acceptable (No cannon kicking etc?)
3. The form/kata must resemble a traditional work; an adaptation will be acceptation if the added moves are traditional.
4. Traditional Gi to style must be worn or national Gi.
5. No weapons.
6. Name of form must be announced to judges (Now optional)
7. This is not a freestyle section no music No time limit.
Judges
Hard style forms must be performed on a non-matted area.

Basic techniques
Stances
Punches
Kicks executed with balance
Blocks
Balance
Strength
Focus
Presentation
Dress/announce
Style/country if International/Kata/Form
Good Etiquette
Application of form
(Shouting at every technique will not blind Judges; this does not constitute strength.)
Musical Empty Hand Forms
1. Matted or Non-Matted area must be available.
2. Music must be used.
3. Choreography to the music is important.
4. No stage props such lasers, smoke, fire, or dry ice.
5. No dance moves.
6. No theatrical costumes.
7. The duration of the freestyle form must be between 1and 1 1/2 minutes time will start from the 1st move of the form Not the announcement.
8. This is NOT a gymnastic contest and only One gymnastic move will be permitted.
Judges
(Free style forms may be performed on a matted or non-matted area)
Judges will mark the form on:
1. Synchronization to music.
2. Showmanship.
3. Degree of difficulty.
4. Basics hand and foot technique.
5. Balance, Stances Strength and focus
All the above to be executed with strength and power according to the basic technique.
Judges please remember that only ONE Gymnastic move allowed, this is not a gymnastic competition
Musical Weapons
1. Matted or Non-Matted area can be used.
2. Music must be used.
3. Choreography to the music is important.
4. No stage props such as lasers smoke fire or dry ice.
5. No dance moves.
6. No theatrical costumes.
7. The duration of the freestyle form must be between 1and 1 1/2 minutes the time will start from the 1st move not from the announcement.
8. Weapons must be SAFE judges have the right to inspect the weapon.
9. This is NOT a gymnastic contest and only ONE gymnastic move will be permitted.
(The form will be scored on the use of the weapon.)
Judges
Musical Weapons forms will be market on: -
1. Synchronization to the music.
2. Manipulation of the weapon.
3. Degree of difficulty.
4. Showmanship.
Basics stances strength and focus.
Soft Style Forms (Chinese Style)
1. Opportunity to use Matted or Non-matted Area
2. Soft shoes according to style
3. Gymnastic type moves are permissible provided that they are within the style for example Wu Shu but they must be practical. An adaptation is acceptable if the additional moves are traditional to Soft Styles.
4. Traditional uniform to style must be worn.
5. NO use of weapons.
6. Name of form must be announced to judges.
7. NO Music.
8. 3 min time limit.
This is NOT a freestyle section the form must be traditional Chinese style.
Judges should be looking for: -
Basic Techniques
Good flowing techniques, Punches, Kicks, Blocks, Balance, and Stances. Strength and Focus are also important.
Presentation
Dress according to style.
Announce: - Style
Form, country if international
Good Etiquette at all times.
Weapons Forms (Non Musical)
1. Matted or Non Matted area must be available.
2. No music is allowed.
3. No props such as smoke, laser, fire etc.
4. No dance moves.
5. No theatrical costumes.
6. Forms should last no longer than 3 mins.
The weapon must be safe and recognized in the martial arts. You may be asked to show the weapon to the Judges.
Judges
Judges please remember this is not a gymnastics competition..

Good use of the Weapon,
Good basic techniques,
Good control,
